Types of domestic violence

Physical abuse

This is one of the most recognizable forms of domestic violence. It involves usage of threat or physical force against the victim, leading to injuries.  It can include forced usage of alcohol or drug or denial of proper healthcare.

Emotional abuse

Emotional abuse involves the destruction of the victim’s self-worth and is brought about persistent: name-calling, insults, humiliation, and criticism.

Sexual abuse

Sexual abuse is a common form of domestic violence. It includes rape, assault, and unwanted sexual contact. It also includes instances where the abuser uses alcohol or drugs to induce an intimate partner into sexual activity.

Financial abuse

Financial abuse is also a kind of domestic violence that can be least obvious to an outsider. This can include the husband preventing his wife from acquiring a job or education outside the home.
