Mr. Hunter Biden managed to come to an agreement with the Department of Justice on Tuesday. He has decided to admit to two lesser charges. This will keep him from facing charges for concealing his drug use while purchasing a weapon. This comes as an end to a long-running political case. Detailed investigations have been conducted so far into his drug use, international business dealings, and also gun charges.
This agreement was reached under a federal prosecutor who was once appointed by the former President, Mr. Donald Trump. Mr. Hunter Biden has agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges that accuse him of not paying his taxes on time in the years 2017 and 2018. He will be serving a probationary sentence. The charges brought about against Mr. Hunter Biden establish his connection to the purchase of a handgun back in the year 2018. He was actively using drugs at that time. However according to the pre-trial agreement, these charges were decided to be dropped. Mr. Hunter Biden, has to uphold his part of the deal by staying clean (drug free) for the next two years at least. He has also made promises to never own a gun or firearms.
This case however, is yet to reach fruition till the hearing from a federal judge. Mr. Hunter Biden will be appearing in a Court of Law in the state of Delaware. He will be charges won the grounds of misdemeanor related to tax and is to plead guilty of them. Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Christopher Clark, has delivered a satatement. He has stated that between Hunter Biden and the United States Attorney’s Office there are currently two agreements. This concludes the five-year investigation into Hunter Biden. This conclusion stood true as long as no unexpected changes or complications come up. Mr. Hunter Biden will likely not be facing a federal prison sentence.
The agreement comes as a dissatisfaction to most Republicans. Less than two weeks ago, the Justice Department charged the former President, Mr. Trump for obstructing the government in recovering classified documents by deliberately sabotaging the Mar-a-Lago premises . Republicans have pointed out the double standard of the DOJ, although the facts of both the cases are completely different.
