Former Vice President Mike Pence has stated that he was not “aware” of any of the efforts by President Donald Trump to declassify classified documents during his reign as a US president. This is because Trump still continues to deny the charges that have been set up over his mishandling the classified documents.
Pence has further stated that he has not been aware on several occasions over the four years regarding the declassification of the various documents that the President has conducted. He has also stated that inspite of his non-awareness, he has not denied the possibility of the ex-president’s actions.
Trump has been repeatedly known to assert that he has declassified the documents he has held in his Mar-a-Lago estate, claiming last year he had the power for the declassification of documents through “just thinking about it.”
Trump’s legal team has been extra vigilance to not make similar assertions in the legal fillings. Trump’s lawyer’s so far have been known to push the delaying of the trial or have made the case dismissed outright.
Pence, a 2024 candidate in the GOP’s primary race, has been rebuked by his former boss on various occasions over the charges based on the leak of classified articles. He has been known to call the case to be “very serious” and “indefensible.”
Further, it can be stated that the former Vice President of the US under Donald Trump’s leadership has not been fully aware of his intention to declassify classified documents. But, he has also not been stating that Trump’s stand on the charges that are pressed against him regarding misusing his power to declassify very classified documents.
