Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has requested India to extend a hand of cooperation in the investigation of Nijjar.
The murder of the Sikh separatist leader, Nijjar, took place in British Columbia very recently. Canada will apparently not release its evidence relating to the case.
Mr. Justin Trudeau delivered a statement on Monday. He said that Ottawa authorities had found credible allegations that agents of the Indian government to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Nijjar murder took place in June.
This incident caused a serious uproar in New Delhi, the Capital of India. Nijjar was 45 years old when he was killed.
Sources say that the Canadian government, through human and signals intelligence, has carried out a months-long investigation. Nijjar was the leader of the Sikh separatist organization.
Allies to the Canadian government have taken a rather cautious approach to the sensitive matter. Political analysts are of the opinion that the United States and other major players of the Global scenario see India as a strategically.
India’s development could serve as a counterweight to other big names like China.
“There is no question that India is a country of growing importance and a country that we need to continue to work with … and we’re not looking to provoke or cause problems,” Justin Trudeau said at a New York Press Conference.
“But we are unequivocal around the importance of the rule of law and unequivocal about the importance of protecting Canadians.” He added.
Finally, he said, That’s why we call upon the government of India to work with us to establish processes to discover and to uncover the truth of the matter.”
